Railay is a peninsula cut off from the mainland by limestone cliffs, so the only way in is by longtail — about 15 minutes from Ao Nang. That isolation is the point. West Railay has the sunset-facing white sand and the resorts; East Railay is mangrove and cheaper stays; walk five minutes between them. It's the rock-climbing capital of Thailand, with routes straight off the beach, plus a hidden lagoon hike and Phra Nang Beach around the headland. No cars, no roads. Day trip or stay a few nights.
