The mangrove side of the Railay peninsula, where the longtails from Ao Nang and Krabi actually drop you before you walk across to the famous west beach. East Railay isn't for swimming — it's tidal mud and mangrove — but it's where the cheaper guesthouses, bars and restaurants cluster, and the boardwalk along the water has its own quiet charm at dusk. Think of it as base camp: five minutes' walk to Railay West and Phra Nang. Free, and the arrival point for the whole peninsula.
